She’s off to Colorado and I have been left to fend for myself with the baby, so I have reinstalled the car seat (I removed it because it was leaving dents in my cushions) and now I’m making food my way around here.
Heaven help you, young man, because your daddy makes crazy stuff.
Can’t sleep now, so I’m roasting poblanos that I’ll use along with some lightly sautéed onion as filling for a quesadilla for the baby’s lunch.
I also just realized that I forgot orange juice at the store this weekend, so I need to grab that on the way home from his drop off to make marinade for pollo asado for tomorrow’s lunch and dinner...
My car also just passed 20k miles, which gives me feelings, but it’s still the lowest mileage car I have ever owned by a good margin...
Poblanos. The three in here are the spiciest I’ve ever seen up here in WA. Like approaching jalapeño levels of heat. Pretty weird/crazy. They roasted really nicely, too. Skins came off really easily and they didn’t turn to mush like I’ve seen with a lot of them I get here.
Since I was at it, I ended up roasting my hatch chiles as well. Surprisingly, these are only marginally hotter than the poblanos, which are unusually spicy. The skins on these are crazy thick and easy to peel. This is a first - I’ve never cooked raw hatch chiles before, since they’re so readily available canned. They were just on sale at my grocery store, so I thought I’d try them.

Poblanos are very mild. He likes chile peppers that aren’t too spicy.
Hell, the last time I made him quesadillas I used diced serranos. In fact, those were also in his guacamole a few weeks ago (shh, the wife doesn’t know because she doesn’t eat it!)...

Roasted some hatch chiles while I was at it . It smells like (Nuevo ) Mexico in here.
Those poblanos were the spiciest I’ve ever bought here in WA... They’re rivaling the hatch peppers in spiciness. Kind of shocking. Need to remember to go light on them...

Salsa should be a first food, too. There are so many things wrong with that image.

Put a thick bath towel under the car seat to minimize cushion- gouging.

It’s not gouging, it’s crushing. It just deforms the leather and foam, which I worry will become permanent.
It has to be attached so tightly that it can’t shift, which is really tight.

Still have the spots on the center seat of the Forester.. man I was extra cautious with the firstborn.. had that seat cinched in there so tight..
Now I wait for the buckled up signal from the back seat and we’re off.

Don’t worry... It will become permanent. And other things will happen to your car that will ruin it gradually over time.
Accept and be at peace with it.

It’s annoying because it wouldn’t happen as much with cloth seats... I just try to avoid leaving it in there except when I need to use it. It bounced back the last time. I have no hope for the car my wife gets after this one, as it’ll probably have leather and definitely will never have the seat removed except when doing a
reconfiguration
.
I look forward to that day, but it probably won’t be for like 13+ years. You’re expected to use boosters until they’re like minimum adult size these days, meaning practically forever. Unlike my parents that had us in normal lap belt seats by like 4-5.

I can’t, though . I try to take care of my car and it isn’t the primary child carrier, so the seat doesn’t stay in there, which allows my car to be practically used to transport adults.

You have small kids. The end is inevitable.
But continue to fight the good fight.
But while you may win some individual battles, you will ultimately lose the war.

I’m about to retire my kid’s Recaro seat from my Jag and move him to a booster seat. I’m nervous about what I will find under the seat cover...

6 and 8, one has a backed booster and the other just has the base, but both buckle in with the standard seatbelt.. You’re not that far..
